Rediscovering Myself: A Letter To Any Scholar Who Feels Less Than

Danyy S • May 25, 2026

A personal story about acne, stress, sports recovery, and learning that taking care of yourself is part of healing, not weakness.

I grew up thinking I had to hide the parts of myself that felt too heavy for other people. I dealt with breakouts that made me want to skip class, long stretches of feeling low, and the kind of teasing that sticks with you long after the day is over. None of it made me stronger at the time. Mostly it just made me tired. I remember sitting alone after practice one afternoon, still in my gear, wondering why my skin looked so inflamed and why my chest felt so tight. I thought everyone else had it figured out. I thought I was the only one who felt like that.

Years later, I learned that so many people carry similar stories. Some hide it behind perfect grades. Some hide it behind jokes. Some hide it behind being the fastest on the field. Pain shows up in different ways, but it is never a sign that something is wrong with who you are. It is a sign that you are human.

Recovery Tools That Help Scholars Stay Active

That is why the services we offer matter to me on a personal level. They are not about perfection. They are about giving people tools that help them feel a little more at ease in their own skin. Red and infrared light therapy can support healthier skin, help calm inflammation, and give your cells more of the energy they need to function well. For someone who has struggled with acne or irritation, that kind of support can feel like a breath of fresh air. It is not about hiding who you are. It is about helping your body work the way it is meant to.

How Red and Infrared Light Therapy Supports Recovery

I think about athletes too. I remember how sore I used to feel after long practices, especially during the weeks when coaches pushed us harder than usual. No one tells you that constant training can create inflammation that lingers long after you leave the field. It does not mean you should stop playing. Sports can be one of the best parts of being a scholar. It just means your body sometimes needs help recovering. Light therapy, compression, and other recovery tools can support that process in a gentle, noninvasive way. They give your body a chance to reset so you can keep doing what you love without feeling worn down all the time.

Taking Care of Yourself Is Not Selfish

And then there is the emotional side. When you are dealing with stress, or loneliness, or the weight of trying to fit in, your body feels that too. Light exposure can support healthier circadian rhythms, which can help with mood and overall balance. It is not a cure for the hard days, but it can be one piece of a bigger picture that helps you feel more grounded.

I share all of this because I wish someone had said it to me when I was younger. I wish someone had told me that taking care of yourself is not selfish. I wish someone had told me that there are tools that can help you feel better physically, which often makes it easier to handle the emotional stuff too. Most of all, I wish someone had told me that nothing about my struggles made me weak.

If you are a scholar dealing with acne, stress, soreness from sports, or the quiet ache that comes from feeling misunderstood, you are not alone. There are ways to support your body and mind that are simple, safe, and rooted in real science. Our services are here to meet you where you are, without judgment and without pressure. You deserve to feel comfortable in your own skin. You deserve to feel like yourself again.
